Junk Mail 1.1

So I let my little student in on our project, and together we decided to build a ship out of most of the junk. Out of the scrap-drawing she made a necklace and I modeled it :

We didn't make the squirrel on page 13, but we did try to make the icy wonderland. we filled plastic gloves with water and tried to make them into shapes to freeze. results pending.

Here is a small film we shot yesterday, as we tried to sail the ship. I also brought ghost cat, and we shot some scenes with him. there are also a few scenes in an environmental theme that might turn into a longer feature-film project.

I will begin to search for some good junk to send to you!

watteau. what? oh.

you are on fire with these posts! to match tit-for-tat, here's a process shot of what i'm working on these days...aka my bedroom right now
i installed a couple small Ikea shelves in my room for all my inks 'n whatnots. i've been making friendship bracelets recently, as i'm going to teach a short workshop on yee bracelets in June. i decided i wanted to make bracelets for all of my favorite, sad historical painting figures, all the ones who looked like they needed a friend. for instance, (Watteau's) Pierrot. he could use a friend. Here:
after i started making it, i realized he would probably never wear it. although it would look great with his skin color! really. with love, Helene Crajnn

Peetee

on my desk

I got these modernist looking cups at St. Vinnie's the other day to put art-stuff in them. Next to them is a coral that Diane gave me the her friends brought her from somewhere where there's corals... It looks like something that someone would draw in the vitamin D book.
Behind that is a station I've been listening too that sometimes is really good. It's on iTunes under the "ambient" category and it's called A1Quiet radio. It's a French station, and it plays some interesting American music mostly, a lot of stuff that I never heard of.

Here are some experiments I've been playing with, and books/magazines for inspiration. making patterns with ink is fun!

And last weekend:

I was looking for some patterns in my backyard. All the flowers are out, and it's so nice!

Also, I tried to paint the inside of my watercolor cup and it turned out looking a bit like a Jenna Lechner style painting. A Lechner-imitation.

I'm so behind on art

Or at least on posting.
Here is a little drawing I made on the commuter rail from Providence.
This is called: "6 ways to sleep uncomfortably on a flight from San Fransisco to Boston with an empty seat next to you using a coat and a scarf as blankets and pillows"
